The Conference of the Armenian National Committees of the American continent and Australia was held on November 16-17, in Montreal, Canada. Representatives from the ANCs of Canada, Eastern USA, Western USA and Australia as well as a delegation from the Washington office of the Armenian National Committee of America attended the Conference. The global political reality and the challenges of the Armenian Cause in the present phase were discussed in the two-day Conference.
The Conference listened to the participating regions’ reports and evaluated the challenges and the current working plan of the Armenian Cause activities unrolled on the continents of America and Oceania.
The Conference touched upon the issues of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the reparations, the Genocide’s Centennial, the recognition of the Mountainous Karabakh (Artsakh) and the activities aiming at the protection of the rights of the Armenians in Samtskhe-Javakheti. Special emphasis was put on the issue of further politicizing the new generation of the Armenian communities in the USA, Canada and Australia.
The Conference also stressed the need to consistently carry on the activities of the ANCs and their offices on the American continent and Australia, that are directed at supporting the Armenians in Syria.
